    My '53 Starliner seems to lack its hood prop rod, and the example on SI here:



    doesn't resemble that I've seen in other cars of that sort-- as for example afgarcia's:



    (The SI image is actually from the C-body listing, since the K-body listing has the incorrect image. But there wouldn't be any model difference in such a basic tool, would there?)

    Anyone have any thoughts?

    My 55K has the same one as the second image. There will be people coming to South bend that could pack one for you.

      Yes, but I won't be at South Bend, unfortunately. Will anyone from the Philly area be going there?

        Miller Signs in Eldridge, IA manufactures "prop rods" for holding the hood securely open for engine work or shows. With one in place the hood cannot lift or drop.

ID:	1688700 Here is one on my 1953 coupe during restoration. They also have props for early Larks, Avanti's and all Hawks.
        Duane Miller's contact info is in every TURNING WHEELS (Now the UMVZ Director, but still listed as the Zone Coordinator).

          It looks like it shields the head cutting J hook as well.
