51 Champion 6 engine and OD Trans

Finally, this guy calls me back that was selling an engine and trans out of a 51 Champion. Says it was machined and about to be re assembled but the previous owner lost interest sold the car but that guy didn't want the drivetrain. SO, it sat in a garage....Well, I'm going to pick it up this week some time and I'm getting a bucket of parts. Is there a book out for either the engine or trans that I can buy or download? I think I have an extra cart in the garage that I can weld up to be a stand for the engine and trans....basic idea here, to get it all together, and cosmetically correct. Fire it up on the stand. and if I ever find a car or truck...I have a fresh engine, trans and OD....

I would guess you would be looking for the 1951 Shop Manual. Available in hard copy for $30 new from our vendors or variable prices used on Ebay. Also available on CD-ROM for $19.95 and includes both the chassis and body parts catalogs and shop manuals for '52, '53 and '54. SUCH A DEAL !

Well, I got it...and he threw in the engine stand...well, it's sorted out now, and will be my winter project...here's what I have....can you guys advise....

I believe the stamped number indicates a Vernon, CA Champion engine.
