Hello,
As a lot of you probably know, I have been looking for a rollup antenna for my recent 1951 Studebaker LC project.
However, this post is to clarify some things concerning my 1961 Lark that I am hoping to get on the road as a daily driver. I have had the internal controlled antenna in my Lark for some time as a gentleman from this forum sold it to me several years back (when you could still obtain one for a reasonable price ). For some reason, I always had this feeling that this antenna didn't originally belong in my Lark, and that it went into something earlier. I kept thinking that AC-3012 (newer version) was what went in ALL Larks.
I just recently purchased a NOS in box AC-3012 internally controlled antenna that I was going to put into my Lark. I was very excited that I finally got the "right" antenna for my Lark, and it was NOS! That was, until my gut told me to confirm with my 1961 accessories brochure. I tend to blindly believe these brochures for accessory accuracy when deciding what factory options to put on my cars because I want them to be accurate for the year they were built! I was surprised to find out that the AC# that was referenced in the accessory brochure was NOT AC-3012, but AC-2688.
How could this be? Almost all of the reference material I had found up to this point told me that AC-3012 was the antenna to use on ALL lark models. This website here:
tells me that AC-3012 works on all 1959-1964 models. Yet the very same website:
tells me that AC-2688 is only good for model up to 1959.
Now I know this topic has been covered several times before, but before I decide which one of these antennas I need to sell back to recoup my funds, I really need to know which one is the real McCoy. My accessories brochure tells me the one I already have (AC-2688) is the one that should be on my car. BUT, other sources say otherwise.
Once this is cleared away, anyone interested in a trade for a 1947-1952 internally controlled antenna?
