What type of trunk mat was original for 1955? Any original mat for my 55 President sedan was long gone by the time I purchased it. I'm trying to keep it original where practical.

1955 trunk mat question
American iron, real old school
With two tone paint, it sure is cool
Its got 8 cylinders and uses them all
With an overdrive that just won't stall
With a 4 barrel carb and dual exhausts
With 4.23 gears it can really get lost
Its got safety belts and I ain't scared
The brakes are good and the tires are fair.
Tried to sell her, but got no taker
I"ll just keep driving my StudebakerTags: None

It is a woven almost Wicker Type material that had a Mfg. Proprietary name, that does not come to mind now.
There are expensive reproductions out there, way more accurate than the cotton backed Vinyl "Replacement" type that are readily available.StudeRich

Patrick, what determines the type of trunk mat ? are the upper class cars the material mats as shown? My all original 55 Champion sedan has a small flat rubber mat, that just takes in the flat portion of the trunk floor.

Of course, since the material is available, the correct mat could be made up.Gary L.
