        Not being able to see the other side, I guess it could be early to late forties. Those were the ones with the external clamp-on vacuum advance bracket and linkage mechanism.

          I started to reply that the distributor is used to direct electrical energy to the sparkplug to ignite the fuel in the yet UNNAMED engine the it was made to fit, but that would be a smart ass reply. So I refrain .

            Here is a poorly focused picture of one installed on an engine. The lube cup is on the opposite side of the vacuum advance.

              It looks similar to the one that came on my M series truck. There are some pieces missing which make it look different.

                My M-series Shop Manual and the Hollander Interchange book (1946-56) show the IGW4154 distributor for 1941-46 Champion cars and M5/M15 trucks. Later Champ 6 engines used IGC4805 (spark modifier under base) or IAT4001 (spark modifier on side of base).
