  • My Stude is being christened a daily driver.

After 9 years my Studebaker is taking the 130 mile trip to Statesboro tomorrow. I am going back to Georgia Southern after my spring break and drove the car every day to work last week with no mechanical bugs. I finally have the engine running like a top and boy does it pull. I spent today painting the front bumper and roof and kneading out all the kinks. Yes this car will sit outside now and for the first time in probably 25 years. Yes it will be my only car. Yes it will have no A/C, heat, radio, or wipers. And, Yes, I am crazy! My plan is to keep around 70 which is 3,000 rpm and leave early.

Great looking car and love the 383 motors . just 1 caution, most primers do not keep out moisture, I think primer sealer might, just don't let the rust get started on your nice ride !

I believe that Jim Turner tried to get these remade in the 80's.
It was when he moved back to the Midwest.

Very Cool! I think I would at least try to find a wiper solution, living in Georgia.

Who needs wipers when you're driving that sleek machine ? As the street rodders do is to use Rainex, rain just rolls right off! Cool ride good luck with it.

LOL. Glad you made it and had fun. A 55 Commander was my only ride for a few years and it was held together with pop rivets and Coke cans. Still turned heads

Man, you brought back memories for me. Many, years ago I drove a 1954 Champion coupe to school at West Georgia. One of the stupidest things I ever did was to trade it for a set of drums about the first of December. During Christmas break, I was telling Dad how cold it was to be on foot, hinting for a little help in getting another car. He said, "All I can tell you, Son, is to see if you can hook up some heat on your drums." I finally got a degree at Georgia Southern. I tried to drive a Fiat from Marietta to Statesboro one time, but that's another story.
