I converted my 259 6V to pertronics with the "Flame Thrower" coil. Works well until someone tries to boost it with 12 volts (Doh!).

I added pertronics to my '63 Avanti. It works well. However, do not leave your ignition switch on for very long if the car is not running. Accessory is ok but not in the on possition without engine running.

Just like the rest of us have done.
There's Pertronix (three to choose from), Crane, Mallory. All good units.
Or buy the Mallory/Studebaker unit sold thru Dave Thibeault.

Or...do what I'm doing. Making a crank triggered assembly using MSD trigger wheel and the 6al box. This is as accurate as todays computer driven vehicles.

The Mallory is a nice unit, easily adjustable advance. Has given us great service in our 64GT Hawk.

For the R2 =, it is best to recurve it to match the r2 specs. That is waht I did and it seems to work well. If you don't, it will keep advancing the timing much more and at higher rpm than spec. You are faced with the dilema of retarding it quite a bit at iddel so it does not go too far as the RPM climbs. Recurve kit is not too hard to install. I have an earlier post on how I did mine in 2012.
