Things that we do with a 5 foot square piece of plywood, while waiting for parts to come in for our Studebaker.

Pretty work!
Is it a real 'quilt'?

(reason for asking....)
My wife pointed out the Harbor Freight 'moving pads', and said many quilters are buying those and sewing their quilting squares onto the moving pads.
Genius....

No Jeff, we used a 5x5 foot piece of plywood, laid out the design, and painted it.
Hopefully it will endure our weather out here.
My wife is really happy that you like it.

The largest I have painted are 4' x 4'... when living in town that is about as big as you can get away with. Most I paint are either 2x2 or 3x3. There is a lot of waste with the 3' ones, but if the customer pays... I will paint. I use "One Shot" lettering enamels. I purchase from a local supplier, but Eastwoood sells the paint. It will last outside for years. I also use 1/4" tempered Masonite... it lasts longer than ordinary plywood and is actually cheaper (usually).

Thanks for the info.
We used a water base solid color exterior stain, and applied 3 coats of satin exterior clear.
It was painted on 3/4 exterior plywood cut from a 5'x10' sheet.

To clarify, this is our design for a Studebaker themed "Barn Quilt".
It is based on a 3/4" x 5'x5' piece of exterior plywood, sealed with an exterior primer.
The paint is a water based solid color stain, with 3 coats of a water based satin clear coat.
Our neighbors love the look on the barn..........But none of them have realized what the center piece represents......

No one has commented yet on the center design!

That is awesome! Truly cool :)

I hope you don't mind, but I've merged the two threads together for easier reference.

That is a fantastic piece of work. I love the inlaid wood look and the Studebaker emblem in the center.

Your neighbors will figure it out... eventually... IF you keep driving the Studebaker!
I LOVE it!

Looks fantastic. IMO, it's more attractive on a barn than the more common "Studebaker" sign and a better conversation piece to boot.
