  • 4.10 rear end ???

Anybody running a 4.10 rear end with a 3 sped O.D. trans., and 15" tires? What's your 70 mph rpm?

Never heard of a 4.10 as a Stude factory ratio. Are You sure You don't mean 3.92 or 4.27?

My father's '53 Starlight had a 4.56 rear and he said in OD at 90 mph it was something just over 3000 rpms... (keep in mind this is with the accuracy of an old Sun tach and the Studebaker speedometer...)

My Speedster turns about 2200 RPM at 60 MPH in O/D. (stock 4.27 rear)

4.09 was a factory gear ratio as I had one in my 64 Champ with overdrive and 289. If I remember correctly it turned around 2000 rpm at 60 mph with 15 inch wheels. Bud

A 4.10 Axle was only available in Model 23 or 27 Dana Spicer Axles for 259 Larks or 6 Cylinder Cars.
The 4.09's were in Model 44's.

Calculator Sez ... 2491 at 70 MPH with a 4.10 & P205X75R15 and an AOD which is as close to an O.D. as they have, it's a .70

It's not a Studebaker rear end. Thanks. SN for that info. Thanks Bud, for that info. Thanks, Rich, for info. 62 Champ, Thanks, but I am not going that low.

Just thinking about going from 3.42 to 4.10.

Tex, remember to take into account your taller tire size too, so 4:10`s should be okay with od trans. Those S series also came with 3:73 IIRC. You may also have to go to a different carrier if you are going with 4:10`s...maybe check it out. cheers, junior.
