52 rear stabilizer bar

When I opened the trunk of my "new" 52 I found this rear stabilizer bar. I am guessing (hoping) that it is off of a 51-52 Y body. The picture in the parts book looks similar, but it's hard to compare. Anyone have a picture of one of these actually hooked up, maybe on a frame in restoration?

Seems like it was within the last week or so. I'd search for that, 'cuz this is the best I can do~

Thanks, what you posted is not the whole answer, but it helps. I've never worked on a Studebaker that had one of these installed so how it fits is a bit fuzzy.

Between the parts book and the repair manual maybe there is a better picture then mine.

Dave, I believe the '53-up rear bar, like the one on Your '58 Packard, is a different animal than the '51-'52 version.

Although it's very similar,...I believe it's shaped differently for body clearance reasons.

Okay, so now we know it is likely more narrow, and 'maybe' shaped differently.
I'll go with that.

But does it mount differently?
How it's mounted is also what was asked, and that's what I was trying to show.
Now a much better picture has been posted. (albeit on a '55)

The main bar mounts/swivels on the frame, where the frame kicks up, ahead of the differential. There are already four mounting holes for it in the edge of the frame.

The arms attach to the plates that hold the rear springs and shock absorbers to the axle.

The shape and curve of the connecting arms, as well as the width of the main bar are different, with 51-53 being narrower than 53-up. You can think of it this way:
-51-52 is one set and
-53 and newer is the other set.
-Some 50 Commanders had them as well, but that would be a third set.

None are interchangeable even though they look similar.

They all mount the same way.
