  • Steering Wheel

I bought a custom wheel for my 51 bullet nose and I don't like it. At the time, I thought it looked period correct but when I got it done and installed, it just looks like a custom wheel. I saw this 48 Packard wheel and fell in love with it. It's not like the Studebaker wheel from 51 but I'm not a big fan of the stock wheel. They will replace the horn button with one that has the Studebaker crest in it.

I like the color and it is definately more period correct. I won't fool any Studebaker guys but people that don't know Studes won't know.

Go ahead and give it to me..... (your thoughts)

Sorry, too small to tell what it is. Control + ing it just makes it fuzzy.

It's your car and you can do as you please. But since you asked...

That said, I agree, the Packard wheel looks better.

Do what seems right for your tastes and needs. I changed to a different wheel in my 48 Champion because the 17 inch stock wheel just seemed too big for a car that will have power steering and sports car handling. I am going with a 15 inch wheel. The decision was made easier because someone offered me quite a good price for the stock wheel.

I left the stock steering wheel in my truck which has power steering and I like the feel of driving it. I wasn't sure how I would like it before I did it. The Packard wheel is 16 inch. The custom one in the car now is 15 inch and I think it looks too small.

I'm with you, cool, go for it!

I knew a guy once who made original steeringwheels smaller, he made one for me too & you can be sure some folks scratched their heads... only a bit smaller!
& when I said it actually WAS smaller they aksd where I bought it & that's when the fun began.

Ugggh! I agree the genuine old Packard wheel is the preferable choice betwixt the two. But I'd still be keeping an eye out for a nice original Stude.

The one you have now looks good for a modern rod, but I like the Packard one better.

Doesn't Schrock Brothers have the correct one for your car? Of the two posted, I like the Packard.

It's a brand new wheel manufactured to fit Ididit and Flaming river steering columns which is what I have in the car. And yes, it IS expensive.....
