  • Drive Shaft: Drive shaft support bearing number...? ++ followup

Looking for a modern number for the bearing that goes on a two piece drive shaft for a 7E7-122 truck. The Studebaker part number is 664443. Already posted on the Studebaker Truck Talk and no one knows a modern number/cross over.

    Thanks ahead.

Not sure of a cross but the Studebaker Vendors should have this as it fits " All 1950-57 cars; All M15-17 trucks; All 1949-64 trucks"

I believe this would be a National 88107
      American iron, real old school
With two tone paint, it sure is cool

Its got 8 cylinders and uses them all
With an overdrive that just won't stall

With a 4 barrel carb and dual exhausts
With 4.23 gears it can really get lost

Its got safety belts and I ain't scared
The brakes are good and the tires are fair.

Tried to sell her, but got no taker
I"ll just keep driving my Studebaker

88107 is a BIN aka Bearing Industry Number, which is usually stamped on the bearing, what autoparts stores, bearing shops go by.

Ford trucks also used this bearing, as it's listed in my BIN & Manufacturer Part Number to Ford Part Number (and vice versa) Cross Reference Catalog.

        BIN: 88107 or 88107-A = Ford part number: B9TZ-4840-A . . Driveshaft Center Support Bearing-1.37" I.D. ~ 1955/60 F250/350 / 1961/79 F100/250 & some F350's

Because of its age, auto parts stores (NAPA and etc) may not have this BIN listed on their computers.

So you have to get the parts clucks to look in their paper parts catalogs, usually stashed under the counter.

btw: I would assume that someone on the Truck Farmers site would have a Hollander Interchange Catalog.

The only user name I recognize on this site is truckdog62563 as he uses this same name on FTE aka Ford Truck Enthusiasts (ford-trucks.com).

You will need an arbor press.

Hmmm - looked up the 88107-A and came up with this:

As long as the mounting holes were the same distance apart as the old support bracket, cannot see why it wouldn't work...

My cross reference chart (see post 4) says that 88107 & 88107-A cross to B9TZ-4840-A .. Bearing, not to a complete kit.

In 1974, FoMoCo obsoleted all the individual parts, they were only available in a kit.

D9TZ-4800-A (replaced D4TZ-4800-A) .. Driveshaft Center Support Kit-consists of bearing, shims, rubber support and brackets / Available from Ford & auto parts stores.

The bearing is the same as Studebaker, I would assume the shims are too. The other parts...I have no idea if they'll work or not.

                Ford truck applications: 1959/60 F250/350 / 1961/79 F100/250 and some F350's.

Cross reference charts are listed at the end of the text sections of the 1964/72 & 1973/79 Ford Truck Parts Catalogs, available on C/D's from hipoparts.com
