Today Pat (nibbs53) and myself will be picking up a real plane Jane and one that is not worth much for the parts on it so will be saving it for a little while but not for long.

It is a 61 4 door, 6 cyl. 3 speed no over drive, no radio, dog dish caps, with driver side door rotted out and some rust out in the driver side upper corner of the trunk lip, not the lid but the lip area, might be some rust in the floor but the door but have not looked yet. also the engine is junk as it has a rod through the pan. About the only thing I can see worth much is the 108" frame and the windshield, also the radiator, front fender are good and the duel head light front piece.
The bumpers are nice along with the pair of original tail light lenses. the dash is junk. pictures to come when we get it to the shop...Interested ??????????????

Bob forgot to mention that it does have a new oil pan.

That trip is over and went like clock work but I wonder why I really wanted to save this Plane Jane? it is at the shop now but with in a few weeks I will be moving it on or out, any one interested in it whole? I will be going to Las Vegas in the near future to pick up the R-1 4 speed hawk so could deliver it that far if any one was interested , if so just PM me and we can talk, here are some pictures of it.

I have to agree there. If that car were a SW it'd be worth a whole lot more.

Now who was looking for a set of Pope Paul hubcaps for a '61 convertible??Craig

That would work Craig since it is a '61, except that it has 1959 Hub Caps! :(

I would save the Windshield and Tail Light Lenses and Housings if they aren't rusted out, and scrap the rest.

Rich that is my thoughts too, but the 109 frame is worth some thing now and more in the future, tail lights for sure along with the bumpers, windshield, the pass door will be good for the champ trucks along with the front door glass and regulators, but that is about where it ends.

Well, at least this car will assist others and only the junk parts will be scrapped.

I'm sure nit picking of parts is a time waster, not knowing if anyone will need them and the storage of them for years.

But I wonder
Wiper motor
Internal wiper arm gear/bars
window stainless trim - especially the rear since its a one year glass.

And last. Hidden interior parts (any demand?)
headliner bows
clad plated alligator teeth pieces above the doors.
I guess most cars these pieces wouldn't go missing but ya never know.

If it goes to the scraper take the cap from the single master cylinder. I've had 3 people ask about one years go wanting my old one. Don't Vendors carry that??

Just thinking out loud.

If you go back a few days on the forum, 58PackardWagon was looking for '61 dog dish hubcaps. You might PM him if you're looking to part it out.

Also check if the cowl drain rubber is any good. That is unique to '61's I think. Save any tie rods, steering parts if low mileage, as well as swing pedal assembly parts. Rob in PA.

Every one , thanks for your input as most of you know I have been in the Studebaker parts business since 1990 and a lot of cars, trucks and parts have come and gone over these years also many, many have gone to China. Over the years when stripping them out we would strip every thing and save most and over the years it just sits there so now as I get older and find it harder to save every thing it comes down to I just don't want to any more. I have made many trips across the country
to the swap meets and did have good success but not great but lots of fun doing them. bottom line is time to get rid of most and only keep the better selling items and one that most people are after, plane Jane items don't fill the bill any more.
That's my story and i'am sticking to it. here is 5 pictures of what i am talking about , could post 50 pictures won't.

Dang Bob,
With all that stuff laying around it seems you might be able to pull me out a beltline trim for my 52 hard top from somewhere???

Good luck with the plane Jane.

Dean.

That R/F door fits any 1955 1/2 to 1962 Stude and 1957-58 Packard 4 door sedan as well as the Champs. :)

Maybe the building inspector would like this car as a driver?
