Looking for a picture of the correct dog dish hubcaps for a 1961 Lark Conv. I see the rims are silver, but the car came with 30 hubcaps and have not been able to determine which ones are correct. thanks

IMHO…. none of the dog dish hubcaps would be correct for a nice 61 Convertible. Wheel covers will set off the car far better than the cheapo look of the dog dishes. Get some 61 wheel covers, strip off the paint, put on a set of the black vinyl inserts, and those covers will look FANASTIC along with a set of wide white walls.! ! ! ! ! Google some pictures of 1961 Studebaker Convertibles and see how they look. I scanned through dozens of the convertibles and did not see a single one of them with dog dish caps.
Here's one I really like:

Now don't get me wrong…. I'm not sayin the dog dishes are ugly…. they're hideous. Especially on a 'vert.
Again, just my humble, quiet, anonymous, modest, unpretentious, but CORRECT opinion.

Even my dogs won't eat out a dog dish hub cap.

If you really do want some Stude. Hub Caps the ones to get are the '60 Lark or the '64 Lark Type Caps.

IMHO the '61 is about the ugliest hub cap they ever made, it's the super deep one that always managed to get scraped on all the Curbs. The next to ugliest would be the '62 & '63. There is a reason most had Wheelcovers.

Actually, I thought the 1961 caps looked about the best of all the Stude caps, except for maybe the 64-66 ones.

'Pretty good one in the 1961 Taxicab Brochure:

'Check out the odd wheel to which the "hub cap" is fitted. :o 'Can't say that I've ever seen one of those before, anywhere! :) BP

The '61 dog dish is the same as the '58 dog dish. I think they thought it gave them a jaunty look, like many of the British imports. My 1960 convertible came from the factory sporting the dog dishes.

I've always been a fan of poverty caps, especially on a street rod.

However, count me among those who would run the full wheel covers on a convertible.

BTW, any link to a photo lineup of the little guys? I just ran across three in a scrap yard and thought about saving them, but since there wasn't a set of four, there is another project I don't need just now. Anyway, these were the plain, smooth "S" in the center.

Dog dishes with trim rings can look very nice.

Yes that is right, even without the Trim Rings with the right Wheel Color.

What is the supply and demand situation for poverty caps? Are there plenty of them for cheap? If rescuing those from the scrap yard, what is the going swap meet selling price?

Me too. I ran them on my 63 hot rod with stock disc brake wheels...

We have boxes full of them Jack, both new and used. They are slow movers. Prices are all over the map depending on year. No used one would sell for more than $20.00 and usually less. IMHO as a vendor.

Joe, are you asking because you might need a set if you want to go that way? If so I am picking up a 61 4 door and I think they are on it, let me know if interested in them....Bob

Isn't that the WRONG wheel color for a 63?

Yup.

But that's not all there is to find 'wrong' with that car.
Back in the day Dad had a 'modified' streak...

That cap is very close to the stainless steel caps on my 62 Champ! Even the wheel in the photo looks different by the openings in the center web, very small openings.

A huge thanks to everyone for the pics. I too agree on liking the full wheel covers myself. But the individual i am working on the car for likes the dog dish style.
