  • Studebaker mentioned by the Commemorative Air Force for its WWII contributions...

I'm a member of the Commemorative Air Force (formerly Confederate Air Force)...their current edition of their official monthly magazine "Dispatch" has an article on America's preparations for World War II. There's a listing of the top forty prime contractors for the war effort which includes Studebaker. While short, the description of Studebaker's role lists the engines made for B-17s, of which a number are still in use on the planes still flying and on static display aircraft, the "popular and widely-used US6 trucks" and the "somewhat unusual amphibious M-29 Weasel."

Nice to see the Studebaker contribution to victory mentioned. Packard is also listed as a major maker of engines...the license built Rolls-Royce Merlin engines and marine engines for Navy PT boats.
