  • Studebaker in Saving Mr Banks-Disney

My son took us to the movies on the 24th, as the lead character P.L. Travers is entering Disney Corporate headquarters for the first time, I am sure I saw a Late 50's model Hawk. . to quick to identify past that. . .I believe it was red or maroon. . .anyone else notice. . .

Looked like a 57-58 Golden Hawk, I kept looking for it again, but didn't see it.

My wife even made the comment, "Isn't that a Golden Hawk"?

Disney Studios has almost always had one or more Studebakers in their private collection. When I was working there on Follow Me Boys in the mid '60s I strolled through their auto barn and saw a couple. I drove my '55 Commander to work there every day I was on the set.

My neighbor's brother works for the LA studios. He has a '63 GT that he used to rent for shoots. It's now in storage and hasn't run in years. I got tangled up with an older couple who had costumes they rented to Hollywood studios and also kept a '58 Silver Hawk working as decor for various shows and movies. Engine got fried for lack of oil and I found them a used (but supposedly run-worthy) replacement V8. Turned out it wasn't in the condition I was led to believe and the deal turned into a fiasco for me. This was in the late 90s and I seem to recall they'd get a couple hundred a day when the car was being used on location.
No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.
