  • Transmission / Overdrive: need help with paint color on OD and transmission T96

i have a T96 Borg Warner with O.D. and i need to know what color of paint the factory used
on the overdrive unit and if the painted any of it when it was new,

my overdrive unit looks like orange paint but i can't tell if it is factory or someone painted
it. the rest of the transmission is not painted

if any one knows or has pictures please let me know

    thank you
    John

Some of the primer was an orange or red oxide. The transmission was painted the same color as the engine, which depended on the year.
    What have you got?

Over the years many of us have swapped transmissions from one car to another, different years, models, etc.

And worn them out and replaced them, even swapped the Main Case and or Overdrive Case or Tail Housing from other Transmissions, unless you bought the Car New, and remember or recorded everything ever done to it in 63 years, you would not know if it's Transmission is Original no matter what it's "Former Owner" says.

the transmission is a T96 BW 3 speed with O/D. this is what came factory in the car, even if it was changed in the last
63 years it is still a T96 transmission, i have the factory window sticker, it came with the 3 speed with O/D from the factory.

i was just trying to see what color the transmission was in 1960.

              thank you for the information

Of course that is the correct TYPE of Trans. like the one it came with, it fits!
Your question in Post #4 was, why does it not have any Silver Paint, and that answer is in Post #5 and 6.
