  • What paint color for a Lark

    It's nearly time for paint,
Still work to be done on the dash and console.

However it's time to think PAINT! I have a color or two in mind, but I'd like some forum participation, speak your mind as to what the ideal, perfect color is for a Lark?

    Biases from owners are expected,
Mild to wild will surely be suggested.
What color, in your mind sets a lark apart from the pack?
(stock, custom, current OEM doens't matter.)

The classiest 60 Lark I ever saw was owned by my great-aunt Mable in Schenectedy, NY. It had the dark green tinted glass and a solid dark forest green exterior. Looked like a mini-Mercedes. Too "sleeper" for ChopStu.

1961 Studebakers came in some very nice colors. Choose from Ermine white, Blaze red, Jade green, Suntone yellow, Riviera blue, even Flamingo!

i ass-u-me that you're not going with a original color. i'd go with a blue metallic with some "camo" mixed in. my '51 looks blue in low light, but when it's bright outside, you can see some purple and occasionally brown depending on the viewing angle. i was told it is a furd probe color.

In the wild most larks are medium brown on top with a cream colored belly. Some have yellow with brown and some have some black. Maybe that helps.

This and Camo talk sure leads the mind to hunting season
Ask in summer, burmuda brown and desert tan may subliminally come to mind

Larks have a good mix at the shows, seems no one color dominates. Which is good for variety.

Bright yellow would be good on your car, IMHO.

One real easy color to keep is Chrysler's S2 Bright Silver. Have never waxed my '05 PT Cruiser GT.

I think a two tone with a lighter color on top would bring out the low look you already have. I really like the Lark in the Saturday Eye Candy post. You could divide the colors on the cars natural style line or on a wedge like this one. One thought from a practical rather than aesthetic perspective, yellow cars definitely attract bugs.

I'm particularly fond of a nice black on red two tone job...

There's a really sharp Lark that was done in a two tone silver and kind of a gunmetal gray color. It's probably the meanest looking lark I've ever seen. It was featured in an article some time ago, and eventually found its way to a Barrett-Jackson auction block. Here's a link - http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli...ln=621&aid=243

Note that it sold for nearly $60k. Not bad!
