  • Engine: 62 Lark 289 engine in a 57 Silver Hawk 289

    Hello,

The 289 engine in my 57 Silver Hawk is getting weak.
    I have the opportunity to buy a 289 from a 62 Lark.
Are the engines from the two interchangeable?
It would be my luck to buy it first and then find it won't fit.

    thanks,
    Steven

Basically the same motor - will be a drop in fit. Use all your external stuff from you '57 and you should be good. If it is a full-flow block then it is a win-win...

If their not both autos or both standards then there's the old converter drive plate bolts/flywheel bolts 'length' issue.

Not to mention dial-indicating for concentricity on the bell housing, should it be necessary to swap bell housings.
