1959 Lark wagon

The son of an SDC member called today wanting to buy a 1959 Lark 2dr wagon. 6 Or 8 does not matter. He would like one that is a driver if possible and preferably in the Western US. Know of any for sale?

Look at http://phoenix.craigslist.com , where one was listed two days ago for $200. A real project, as it doesn't run and has no title (but owner says it's 95% there). If I was the son of an SDC'er, that's the car my dad would want me to get (provided it was possible to get it titled). Lotsa learnin' in that project, I'm sure.

I think that one is a bigger project than he wants. He would like to be able to drive it and upgrade it a little at a time.

$200 is a good price, though. My dad helped me buy my first car from the next door neighbor for $100 - it was a 1962 Corvair that needed an engine rebuild. So, after sending the pistons and cylinders for overhauling to my granddad (a lifelong mechanic and former Studebaker dealership owner) I rebuilt that engine and drove the car for 12 years. And I fixed it up more and painted it as I went along.

So, my suggestion was based on my own experience. Too bad my experience was with a Corvair engine - not readily transferrable to a water-cooled motor!

Denny contac Bobby Crouch @ blcrouch@frontiernet.net .He has a 60 wagon that runs .Has rebuilt carb, all new brakes n rebuilt tranny ,automatic.He was going to restore it but decided to do his 32 rockne instead. Has just a few pin holes in floor and a place on rear wheel well that previous owner put bondo on.Needs interior redone but it is drivable , The lark is in north Ms.He can tell you more about it than i can.I e-mailed you his phone number.
