The one disadvantage to finishing a partial "cost is no object" restoration is having to finish it that way, not the greatest thing when the car is being built for eventual resale. For example the engine was in pretty good shape, engine bores could have just been honed and probably would have been fine, but it's getting a bore and new pistons. The same with the labor, I find myself skim coating and sanding the surface rust on the fan shroud and wire brushing and detailing every nut and bolt. Tomorrow, I'll sandblast, prime, and paint the wheels, install the new, correct 1 inch whitewalls. I have most of the trim back on, but still have boxes of parts to install. Surprisingly, I'm only missing a few very minor parts.
