Someone gave me a 64 Daytona and it has two "T"s with a circle around each of them. Ones silver and one is red. It looks like a Studebaker emblem although the engine and chassis are all built up. The chassis is a "Fat man's" design. Anyone know what the Ts might mean?

Studebaker used the Dana rears. Casting numbers on the housing would suffice. If any changes have been made, they would more than likely be significantly obvious.Brad Johnson,

I am pretty sure there were a few makes that had them, like Chrysler Products, but quite a ways back and may not have been in Dana 44's.
Jeeps would be a lot narrower.
Even the Ratios are peculiar to Studebaker: 3.07, 3.31, 3.54, 3.73, 3.92, 4.09, 4.27, 4.56 and 4.88Last edited by StudeRich; 09-08-2013, 10:36 PM.StudeRich

It it's a 44 (and no one has spuriously removed them), there will be a set of tags on the differential cover, like so:
As you can see (under all that grease and road grime!) there are 3 tags on a Twin-Traction rear end. One contains the Twin-Traction identification and lubrication instructions, another the ratio, and the last an ID number. If you have these, you've got a closed rear end.
