They're a lot of fun, I watched a few last night.

There's one with John Cameron Swayze (sp?) urging people to go to their Studebaker dealer and order an "Avanti-powered R-2" Hawk or Lark.

He emphsises the special order part and quotes a top speed of 140+ for the Hawk and 130+ for the Lark.

BTW: And there's a long piece with George Burns telling Studebaker dealers how great "Mr. Ed" will be. It was shown at the end of the original pilot fim and he explains that the series will have two new lead actors and he intoduces them who do a scene together. (Maybe three new actors....I think Mr. Ed looks different too...a different white blaze on his head).

These commercials on Youtube came from a cassette tape of Studebaker commercials that was available about 15 years ago (and might still be). I like the one cartoon commercial (Daddy buy the Lark it's the car for me) and poor Daddy looks like he wants to throw up. Good commercials, but kinda cutsie-poo and probably largely ineffective in an era when all anyone wanted was horsepower.

Yes Michael, I've seen that one. That thing sure has a sound of its own. How's the R4 Avanti doing? And did you ever post some fresh pics of the Golden Hawk resto? Any progress on the R1 Wagonaire? :)

I have been building a ginormous house that is finished now so I can get back to the Studebakers. I am bringing the 1958 Golden Hawk to the Florida State meet the end of October in West Palm Beach. Are you going to make it down for the State Meet Matthew?

As mush as I would love to see it, we will not be making the Florida meet this year. West Palm is a little on the 'far' side to drive. [xx(] We will be at the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona, though.
