Brakes: Primary Brake Shoe Placement

OK, sanity check. I am doing the front brake on a 1960 Hawk and I don't
have the shop manual; can't remembers does the primary shoe
(the one with the shorter/smaller pad), face towards the rear of the car, or the front?.

Towards the front....primary (shorter lining) shoe towards the front.
