I have purchased the DARK woodgrain type of Mac-Tac rolls at Dollar Stores.I have done mine & several others & have had numerous comments on how good it looks.Using a weak soapy water solution be sure to work out all air bubbles.Overlap guage cut-outs & extend over lip to reverse side for extra adheasion.Take your time & be patient & you will be pleased with resultes.

There was a vender at the Ga. State meet last year selling a laminate type replacement for the GT's but I don't remember his name.Maybe someone else does. His product looked real good. NT

N8, will recall his name. ( I'm bad at names) He was badly injured in a car accident and don't know if he's back at work yet.

It is simply beautiful.

Clear coat paint and a real wood dash. Now you're talking! [:p]

I just received a custom made set for my '62 Hawk from Jimmijim. Even though he is not back to work, his partner is continuing to produce these sets. They are beautiful. Mine is done in walnut and I couldn't have asked for better. The partner is Mr. Gaston Blanc. He is busy and gets just a little behind, but the wait is worth it.

The phone number for Gaston Blanc is 304-374-0750.

He gives you a choice of the type of wood. He also gives you the option of not drilling out pilot holes for the emblem, light switch labels, clock, tach, etc. You can pretty much decide how your overlay will look. He mounts the veneer on some kind of formica like material that you can glue onto your current stainless. He sprays some kind of clear coat over the finished veneer. The inserts fit inside the raised outer lip of the stainless. Good fit, but you might have to sand the edges a tad because not all stainless trim is exactly the same dimension.

You must carefully remove the stainless ring around the glove box lock and reinstall it after you have glued the overlay in place. I think that is the only tricky part of the whole deal.

He also makes side door overlays to cover the stainless in the middle of the door.
Tell him that Bob Parkinson from Michigan sent you. I don't think it will get you any kind of deal, but he will be glad to hear that I like his product enough to recommend it to you guys.

I wish that I had mine completely installed so I could post some pics, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

My 63 GT Hawk dash wood panels were made by Glen Oosting, 150 Mile House, B.C. He did a perfect job, but unfortunately he hasn't made any recently. He may be convinced to tool up and make more though!

I've decided to buy a few of the overlays and become a dealer for Gaston. I'll have samples at Reedsville and York and sell them on ebay.

Looks like I may not have samples to show at Reedville, Gaston has been impossible to get in touch with, hope he's OK. I can't finish the R2 without the woodgrain for the panels, might need to find another source.
