      That first picture is Bob Valpey in the #37, restored by Stan Smith , Sr and Jr back in the late seventies. I believe Bob rolled it on this ascent; since, restored again.

        It has been a long time since I drove up the road to the top of Mt. Washington. I remember it being an unusually clear (for Mt. Washington I was told) day. The was 30+ years ago in a very rusted Volvo station wagon. On the return trip down the mountain many cars, most big American cars, had to stop to let their brakes recover, but we cruised right on by proving that the four wheel disc brake Volvo was superior in many ways to its American cousins. I would love to go back to watch espeically the vintage classes run during the hillclimb, but I believe those dates are really close to the 2014 IM in Dover.
