I confess this has nothing whatever to do with Studebakers, but after using the "one man's meat is another man's poison" quote in the 10 worst cars thread I figured this might be a good exercise for the old grey matter. "One man's meat is another man's poison,
My favourite car is a(n) ??"
Hint: the car's name is 2 words, both have 6 letters, and yes,the 2nd word rhymes with poison when spoken as a lot of English speaking people would say it. Any takers?

Terry,
Surely you are not really expecting a response other than "Studebaker" are you?:D

Does the first part of this name reflect the builder's ties to the airplane industry?

But I could use some Avanti advice...or a gift cerfiticate to SASCO, Stude Intl, Avanti parts, etc., etc.

I have seen lots of pictures of Voisons, including a couple that were at Pebble Beach, but I've never seen 'Voison' hyphenated with another name.

Voisin does not rhyme with poison. Just like coupe should not rhyme with coop.

You got me! Yes the car was just Voison, the company Avions Voison. I've known that rhyme for probably 40 years and I believe first saw it in Automobile Quarterly. The Avions was probably put in just to keep the right cadence in things. No, if it is pronounced properly, it doesn't rhyme but it's close and if someone doesn't know French language rules it can get mangled.

The guide / host at d'Leteren (sp) made that plain when he took us Studenuts of a tour almost ten years ago.
For some reason, he seemed to be looking at the Yank when saying it.
