I like that Commander. I find it hard to believe Studebaker couldn't sell more 1956 sedans. Nice looking cars, well built, great engines....$15 million lost!

That -51 could be some 60-70's Italian Zagato design, real nice!

Appears to be a '51 front grafted onto an mid-seventies Aussie Ford Falcon.

My first car was a 56 4 door commander. They are definitely nice cars to drive. I would not be surprised if I would drag a nice 56 sedan home some day.

Craig nailed it. They have some nice variations down under. The Aussie Falcon wasn't offered in North America. Pity.

The stude/Falcon has nice lines, but with the engine sticking up so high and the severe lowering (I know. Probably bagged.) it looks like a cartoon. Cute, but not really functional.

That's because it is a cartoon!

Whenever I see a 56 Stude I think of Al Pasquali, an old family friend & riding in his 56 out in service. It was only a 6 automatic. slow & not particularly quiet but by then I had the Stude bug & enjoyed every minute of it. His wasn't as nice as this one but it still brings back fond memories.

Indeed they do! If I really, really wanted a mid-to-late '70's car with American style, I'd bring one home from 'Down Under'. The were spared the performance choking emission controls of the era, and those ghastly 5-mph bumpers.

That XAGT Bullet is fantastic except for the motor. I know it is a chop, but, ditch the motor for something that fits and I would drive the piss out of it.
