  • Coil spring pad question

Getting ready to put my front coils in, and it seems that for '63 the bottom pads were eliminated, and a "half-a-pad" is specified to be taped to the coil 2nd-from the top toward the rear of the car.

Do I have this correct? No bottom pads? And what kind of tape should I use to hold on the half-a-pad?

I guess I'd just use black electrical tape.
The upper coils are wound closer than the lower coils, and the rubber was used to prevent noise from the upper coils rubbing together. I looked at a couple '63s here and didn't see any insulators. I suspect they didn't stay in place too long anyway.
