  • Aftermarket tank

Anyone know if there is an aftermarket fuel tank (20-22 gallon) that fits a 57 Transtar? I do not want to change the fill location so I am looking for something that will replace the existing tank in the old location.

    Thanks

When I saw the title, Aftermarket Tank, I had an image in my head of someone selling a Sherman tank. LOL

        Thank you

I went to that site and they have a lot of options but nothing specific so I'm going to do a little measuring.

The mid 1970's GMC and Chev. Trucks about '74-'79 and more or less, have 20 Gal. long thin tanks similar to Transtar.
You can't use square or rectangle like a Car.
These are ramped up at one end, deeper than the other, they come in Left and Right hand. Most all parts for these mid '70's Ford and Chev. Trucks are available in aftermarket because:

#1 they used the same design so many years and
#2 there are thousands of them still on the road.

If they fit or how to make them fit, I don't know because I have not done that on a Stude. only on a Ford rollback flatbed.
