  • Anheuser-Busch Brewing Company

Anyone know if the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Company is a member of SDC. The should be, since the Clydesdale team pulls a 1903 Studebaker built beer wagon.

Maybe we can get them to sport the SDC logo on the wagon?? It would be great advertising. If they aren't members, perhaps they should be provided membership ...

How great would that be to have the clydesdales show up to the national meet every year. With the barrels on the wagon, the beer for the week would be covered .

I was looking at their wagon some years ago at a local appearance and was surprised to find that it had hydraulic disc brakes (on the rear).

I forget the year, but it was the night that John Kennedy Jr. flew his plane into Long Island sound, but that night one of our local fire departments celebrated their 100th year. They had the Bud wagon and horses. You don't want to know the cost.......... Back then it was $10,000 for them to show up. Quite an interesting show. The horses are so well trained they basically can do the whole show themselves. On cue they come out of each of their stalls in the trucks, they line up and wait to be harnessed, then they do their routine. Even the dog is centered on his duties. I have some film shots of the wagon and the Studebaker builders plate. BTW there are more than two complete show groups on the road over the year and one that stays at home. At least that was the case back then.

They have six hitch teams and a stable of 250 Clydesdales in various parts of the country. They are not all Studebakers and, in fact, at least one of them is a reproduction. I believe the one stabled in New England is an 1897 Studebaker. I am attempting to schedule it for the Lancaster Meet. We have been admitted to the queue and, unless a larger venue makes a request for the same dates, we will see them next September.

Was I close on the price?
