  • Update for Sweetolbob, stainless Avanti frame, hydroboost

Here is an update for my Avanti, the orientation and plumbing of the hydroboost to replace the vacuum booster.

We have utilized braided steel lines for the pressure side, reinforced rubber hose for the low pressure return. The power steering pump, Delphi Type II, was disassembled to tap the return 1/2 NPT.

The sump for the power steering/hydroboost is the stainless tank on the fender apron. The mounting of the tank was by studs welded to the bottom side. The hex on the cap of the tank is a sintered metal breather

The cooler for the system is mounted underneath the oil pan, essentially flush with the bottom of the frame. The small ribbed canister is the filter.

The original aluminum power steering cooler using water of the upper radiator hose will be replaced with a piece of stainless tubing.

We also have eliminated the external pivoting rods for the mechanical release of the hood latches. They now have arms hidden in the front wheel wells for releasing

Looks great! When you finally get to fire that up the car will spin around the starter!

Thanks for posting an update. I hope the members that are not familiar with your project will look back and see how much you have modified/improved the original car.

I thought you might have gotten distracted but no so.

      Carry on, Bob

Really looking forward to seeing this one on the road, but probably not nearly as much as you are. Keep up the great work!

Thanks. I have followed your build for some time. It was a pleasure talking with you on the display field at South Bend last year.
