I may be wrong, but, if you have an old set of Turning Wheels, check out the international meet issue held in Orlando back in 1984 (I think it was '84). If my memory serves me right...that car has been around for a long time and was at that meet.

That car has been around for a very long time.
I saw it once- maybe at the International Meet held in Seattle back 'round 1982?
It's what you get when you cross the front of a GT Hawk with the rear of a Lark...

That car was home built out of two rusty cars in upstate New York many years ago. It retired to Florida, with its owner, many years ago.

Wasn't there also a GT Hawk that was shortened, some years ago? I seem to recall one at the 93 International at Sea-Tac in Seattle.

'That' is 'Blackbird'...
Bob Oakes built it back in the early eighties in New York state out of a wrecked Hawk and a wrecked Lark. He did what he had to do with what he had at the time. Saved two wrecks from the crusher....
And to his credit... Blackbird has more miles on it than 95% of the pretty pretty Stude's out there today. Bob has drivenBlackbird coast to coast and from Canada almost to Mexico.
Bob says it weighs 2500 pounds and has had two or three different engines in it.
Blackbird is a true testament of what the true Studebaker attitude is all about.
My hat is off to this man, who just perserveres and keeps on moving along...with Studebaker's...

LOL, I love it! Almost as much as the shortened Stationwagon (56 or 57 I think...). Very clever adaptation! Now THAT'S a custom I can live with!
