  • 1930s president 8 engines

I've been looking at a few '31 Presidents that are for sale and I'm confused about the models and engine sizes that came with them. I have read that the early Presidents '26-'28 used the 354ci big six (some say it was 337ci) and after that they used a 312.5ci straight 8 and in '31 a 337ci straight 8 w/ 9 main berings. There is also a 250ci straight 8 that I have read that was used in Commanders. Then there are the models, do they have both "titles" President, Command, Dictator and numbers 65, 70, 71, 80, 90? I wish there were something on the enternet that listed the specs for for prewar studes. I've looked at Antique Stude Club site and most of their pages have been under construction for 3 years. Carnut.com only goes back to 1930 for engine specs and some of their info is inaccurate. I am a member of the Antique Stude Club. I would bet Dick Quinn has all the correct answers, just wish there were a place on the enternet with all his vast knowage. Thanks you any insite you can give me.

Over the past few years there have been excellent articles explaining the early presidents in Turning Wheels magazine. It includes the model numbers. I believe there is an index available to tell which issues they are in. It is a great read but is not on the internet.
