  • What's the deal with this "Daytona?"

Alright, I know i'm a newb, but I thought Daytonas were only wagons, verts and hardtops. This is a sedan this seller is calling a Daytona. Is it really just a Lark with a name change?

If I had to guess, I'd say it was a Regal. Daytonas have the sweep trim on the sides, and an upgraded interior.

I'm not aware of Daytona sedans being offered in the 1963 model year.

Brian, Here are the domestic (U.S.built) Daytonas for the three model years cited:

1962: Convertible and 2-door hadtop (not "sedan" with a B-pillar, like the Craigslist offering).

1963: Same as 1962, plus a station wagon ("Wagonaire" when not specifically ordered with sliding roof deleted.)

1964: Same as 1963 plus a 4-door sedan, even after production shifted to Hamilton Ontario for the balance of the 1964 model year. BP

We've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

Bob B. you can see this is a '63, and it's a Regal 2 Dr. (post) Sedan. Maybe you were not logged in to see the Pic.

Dr. P. there were no '63 Daytona 2 Dr. or 4 Dr. Sedans, in '64 there were 4 Door Daytonas.

Hardtop (pillarless) 2 Door Larks and Lark Types existed from '59 to '64.

It's not a bad looking car (though I much prefer a beltline two-tone over this style). I got mine (with a V8) for a lot less though

I will never understand the use of the word "post" in describing a sedan. Back in the '50s and '60s, this term didn't exist. Those cars were merely called sedans, that's all. Of course, the pillarless sedans were called Hardtops, short for hardtop convertibles for lack of a better name.

I remember a plain jane two door sedan was sometimes called a 'coach'.
