  • Brakes: Wheel cylinder for a 1938 commander

Hey all, I'm having trouble finding a front wheel cylinder at the 'normal' vendors for my 1938 Commander. Any one have a source I can search/contact?

    thanks!

I show we have Repair Kits for '38 Commander Front Wheel Cyl. it is 1 3/8 in. X 1 in. which means it is a special Cyl. with 2 sizes.

No New Wheel Cylinders for Cars older than '39 are available.
I would try honing it out to see if it is Rebuildable, if not it will need to be re-sleeved.

Those dual-bore cylinders are tough to find. I see them on e-Bay once in a while but your best bet might be getting it rebuilt. Be careful honing because you can't just run the hone straight through like a "normal" slave cylinder.

http://www.applehydraulics.com/index.htm is a good place to start to get it sleeved.

I have dual bore wheel cylinders on the rear of my '48 M16 and the bores are 1 3/8" by 1". Are they the same as what you seek? Neal
