  • 1951 Commander interior fabric

I was just wondering. It seems almost of the Stock 51 Commanders I have seen all have fabric interiors. I have a 51 Regal state coupe and the interior is a very heavy gauge Black vinyl. Has it been redone in the past? Comments and input please.

i just checked my '51 brochure - it appears the only nylon or leatherette upholstery was available on the '51 Commander State Convertible.

I wouldn't think that your upholstery is stock. The material doesn't look quite right and the outside corners of the seat backs are rounded on a stock seat. Lots of upholsters added stuffing to the corner of the seat to make replacement covers fit.

This is one of those quicky upholstery jobs that people have done when they
        a) cannot find the correct fabric
        b) there is not enough of the original interior to copy
        c) just don't care about originality
        d) it's just an old car and they want to drive it

Are those seat backs the later 1/3rd-2/3rd style or does the camera just make it look that way?
