Wheels / Tires: Wheels which take the 39 hubcaps?

I love the original style studey hubcaps for the 39 CE/commander. The original 4" wide wheels really limit the modern tires which will fit. (I actually found nearly none).

Are there wider wheels which will take the original style hubcaps out there?

Are your present wheels six lug?
Might be hard to find unless some chevy trucks have the same bolt pattern?
If they are six lug -- I suppose the centers could be welded into another rim.

No, they are five lug on 5" diameter. Same as late model chevy half ton 2wd. The CE is currently sitting on chevy half ton wheels from a suburban. Yeah you used to be able to get wheels widened but I am not sure if anybody would do that today with the overbearing fear of litigation in case of failure.

Actually, since my goal is to use disc brakes on the front, I probably should just forget about using the original wheels at all.
