Since my first car was a 56 Commander, I always look when I see one for sale. Someday when both the time and car are right I most likely will buy another one. I saw this one on ebay and thought it did not look bad from the first picture.
I then saw the rust and thought it could be better. Any chance of a deal stopped when I saw the altered body plate. In my state we have to have the titles checked against the VIN for all out of state title transfers and this one would not get approved by DMV.
I think most likely quite a few Studes have modified VIN's but if you are going to change one then I would hope the person doing the restoration would at least make it look original. The seller does not mention this nor the GM engine in it which also raise some flags.
