How's that for an intro?
Hi all. I'm sure a couple of you might remember me. I was pretty regularly posting until a couple months ago. With my line of work, the holidays are killer, so I pretty much fall off the radar until mid-January. So I'm getting back into the swing of things, and hopefuly in the next couple weeks I'll be back around more regularly.
Sadly though, I also have bad news. The weather was nice today, so I thought I'd go grab some tools from the garage I'm storing the '60 that belonged to my grandpa and swap out a bad brake cylinder on my '63. Anyway, I got to my garage, opened it up, and wham: ALL my tools are gone. I mean everything. My welding gear, my jacks and jackstands, the air compressor, the grinders, sanders, sawzall, the whole 9 yards. I've been robbed, and in a big way. As I'm sure you can imagine, I'm more than a little upset about this. What's more, my insurance might not cover this, as in my own stupidity I never added the garage (which is offsite from where I live) to my policy. I'm going to see if they'll work with me, but I very well may be out of thousands of dollars of tools.
As such, I've decided that if anyone wants to make me an offer on the pair of '60 Larks, I'm open to just about any offer. Neither runs. The hardtop is almost entirely disassembled except for the drivetrain. It has extensive rust in the floors. The sedan is missing a transmission, interior, and hood, but is in pretty good shape over all. There's a lot of work to be done, but these two cars could be built into something cool.
I don't want anyone to think I'm being rash. I've been thinking about displacing these cars for a while. I just don't have time to work on them. I literally hadn't been by the garage since Thanksgiving. Even with my full arsenal of tools, it would have been a daunting, years long task to make something of these cars. Without my tools, they're dead weight I can't do anything with. I have the '63 now, so it's not like I'm leaving the Studebaker world. I'd prefer them to go to someone who will actually take a crack at restoring them instead of just scrapping them. So if you're interested and somewhere near Omaha, get in touch and we can figure out a time to come look at them.
Thanks guys! Talk to you all soon.
