  • Interesting 1958 Concept Model

Saw this photo of a clay model to compete with the Thunderbird, interesting concept.

There were some photos of it in the old Special Interest Autos magazine from Sept/Oct. 1971.

Some folks have attempted to shorten the Hawk and those attempts are all over the map. This is actually kind of elegant. I'm surprised that someone hasn't taken a Hawk and gotten together with a customizer and built one of these by now.

That front fender reminds me of the 62 T-Bird.

I am surprised that this got as far as full size.

The front fender indentation reminds me of a Corvette, sort of.

Those front fenders have two completely DIFFERENT looks! From the rear the "Bullet Look" resembles '62? T-Bird, but from the front, very different and sportier.

They really could have come up with a better rear backlight and roof than that though.

With a little massaging this could have worked.

I agree with you on the backlight, Rich. If it was just pulled down a couple of inches instead of trying to be in concert with the upsweep of the fins. The "hang-over" front quaters make me think of a young lady with what's commonly referred to as a muffintop physique.

In that rear quarter shot of this styling exersize, you can see part of a vehicle on the other side of it - cloaked in a car cover. Wonder what lurks underneath?

Interesting thought Mike, but I imagine you could do it via computer software, wouldn't be too hard to mock up a design based on this, for those who know how. I'm meaning that software could be used to make templates of what the finished vehicle would look like so it could be made.
