Did the Champ truck with a 4 speed have a overdrive or was that just the 3 speed?

There was a 5 speed manual available, with fifth speed being overdrive; fifth direct was also available.

The Warner Gear planetary overdrive was only ever offered on three-speed transmissions, at least insofar as Studebakers are concerned.

So the 4 speed had a mule gear and the other 3 speeds were like a 3 speed without overdrive?

Yes, it is the same as any HD truck 4 speed, granny low (compound) and direct in 4th. It's a Borg Warner T-98
