  • South Benders: Where was this photo taken?

Undoubtedly a church in South Bend / Mishawaka, but which one? (I don't know; I'm asking...):

We've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

    G. K. Chesterton: This triangle of truisms, of father, mother, and child, cannot be destroyed; it can only destroy those civilizations which disregard it.

My guess is Notre Dame---Sacred Heart---next to the Golden Dome.

CORRECTION: My guess is wrong, not Notre dame

It's not ND. It kind of looks like it may be St. Pauls (the Studebaker built church). Hard to tell really.

It most likely is a Roman Catholic Church because of the three front doors.

I wonder if the wedding was 'staged', or if some Studebaker executive's son or daughter got married in August of 1960 and a new-for-'61 Cruiser was the wedding car.

All of that Stainless Steel on Black just does it for that beautiful first Lark Cruiser with 289 Engine option!

It's not St. Pauls. The doors in the photograph don't match those on St. Pauls. See: http://stpaulsmemorial.com/

It is not currently listed, but for quite a while there was a Black '61 Cruiser on the Spokane, WA craigslist. I think the car was from Rathdrum, Idaho. Also, on the Seattle WA craigslist, there is a white '61 Cruiser in Shelton, WA that looks well preserved.

As for the car, it just wasn't in the original picture. Its too well lite. The reflections look too studio, and the interior is lighted as well. The brides reflection is brushed into the hood, but the standing wedding
photographer is not brushed into the front bumper. And the cars shawdow is just too generic.Heck, I'm not even sure the people where there at the church either. But its a beautiful little lark.

There's one that's been sitting in my garage that I haven't driven in a while and I'd love to see it belong to someone who would drive it more, and yes it's a factory 289.

Send me an email if interested...

Cruisers were not limousettes (note correct spelling) until the 1963 model. The closest that the 1961 Cruiser came was being advertised as having limousine roominess.

To this day, I've never been able to determine what a 'limousette' is! A Cruiser is simply a 4 door sedan.
