    Part ID Help Needed

    I picked up a N.O.S., I believe to be a 30's to 40's Trunk Lid at an auction yesterday. On the underside are two different stenciled part numbers, 271996 and 271978 or 271979? The last three digits are hard to read on the second set of numbers. Anyone out there that can help ID this?

    271996 & 271979 are part numbers for trunk lids for 1939 Commander and President 4-dr cars. 271996 was the first edition for this application (supposed to come with a lock - while 271979 was a second edition lid without a lock.
    No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

      Thanks Bob, as I said earlier today in another thread, this forum is a wonderful thing!
      The lid has a latch/lock assembly in it. It did not lead a sheltered life- has surface rust, but is N.O.S., anyone need it?
