56 and 57 Golden Hawk Radios and clocks

Are the 56 and 57 Golden Hawk radios the same?

How about the clocks? Are they the same too between these two years?

Yes, they are. However, 57-58 are different, as is the dash and cutouts for the radio face. The clocks are the same AFIK.

As Bez said, 56 and 57 Hawk radios are identical and have the same AC number.
-The PB Hawk radio is AC-2747
-The manual tuning Hawk radio is AC-2748
-The PB sedan/wagon radio is AC-2745
-The manual tuning sedan/wagon radio is AC-2746

The 56 and 57 sedan radios are identical to each other, but different from Hawk radios. 56 and 57 radios were the first Studebaker ones made by Delco, whereas Studebaker previously bought radios from Philco.

It is a two piece radio, with one piece being the tuner and the other piece being the amplifier and power supply, as well as the chassis to hold the speaker.

The difference between the Hawk and the sedan/wagon radios for 56-57 is basically the chassis that holds the two boxes, and the wiring connecting the two boxes. The Hawk radio has both boxes mounted on a single chassis, one above the other, like the Philco 53-55 radios. The sedan/wagon radios place the two chassis' side by side in the dash and have a longer connection cable.

Yes, factory installed clocks were the same between THOSE 2 years ...but '58 & up factory installed Hawk clocks had noticable differences.

The '56 and some early '57 clocks had an adjustment stem coming through the lens in front. later units had adjustment on back side.

You’re correct again, Barry!

And there were even two versions of the '56/'57 HAWK Clock with the 'faster/slower' adjustment stem on the front although they carried the same part number. The first version with a "white" seconds hand and the other with a "red" seconds hand.
