Is oil leaking from the differential of my '56 Sky Hawk an expensive fix?

Where on the dif is it leaking? Are you planning on having a shop do it? The seals aren't all that expensive from one of the Studebaker venders, but depending on the shop, the labor could be pricey.

They can leak in two different places. The gasket, around the cover, should be an easy fix. Drain the oil, remove all traces of the old gasket, coat the new one with copper spray and put it back together. (flatten out the cover where it's been bent by the old screws). OR, if its' leaking at the input shaft, find a shop to change the seal, not near as easy. The yoke nut was (hopefully) torqued to 170 ft lbs., and is hard to get off.
