  • gasket set 536612 trans

i posted a topic earlierabout this set,i guess this is a different kit than the one needed for a 1957 silver hawk so if anyone needs it i would be happy to share it looks to be in great shape i would just like to keep the package. i only gave 2 bucks for the kit, i was digging through a bunch of old gaskets this man had in a warehouse and he told me 2 bucks i figured if i couldn't use it maybe one of you could let me know thanks

I looked thru ALL of my chassis parts books (in the part number indexes in the back) and couldn't find that number. That covers cars and commercial trucks from 1934 to 1966!
It IS shown in the 1962 Parts Price listing as retailing for $3.60. Of course, it gives NO clue as to what the application is/was.
edit: Oops! I see where Dwain came up with an answer. Dwain, how'd you locate the application of that?

        1. kpcoupe said it was a trans gasket set.
        2. number not found in any chassis parts book.
        3. found in price books from about '55-on
        4. checked a lot of part numbers for supersession, none found
        5. checked Transmission heading in appropriate service bulletin
        index and found this:

Note: They didn't eliminate the original numbers either, probably because there were many of these sets in stock around the country.
