The difference is that they are different sizes and contours from a Champion to a Commander. that's because the shape and contour of the hood is different from a Champion to a Commander. generally speaking the Commander ones are wider or thicker 9front to back) than the Champion ones.

Am still looking for some if anyone knows of a company or a person selling them !!!

There are no "companies" I'm aware of selling these. There hasn't yet been sufficient demand for their reproduction.
No doubt there is someone somewhere who has a NOS set languishing on a shelf. That person is obviously not a visitor here.
Your best bet is to re-chrome what you've got or procure a better sample, as offered by Roy, and have them re-chromed.

deco_droid
11-12-2012, 04:27 PM
I'm sorry to hear about the delay, but I wonder how long it takes them to open the container and say, "Hmmm, ok, what do we have here? A car. Okay, next..."

I mean, do they open the trunk, pull out the seats? I don't know anything about customs, but it shouldn't take THAT long.

Rooneytoons
11-12-2012, 04:35 PM
Well if they want to yes they could strip the car to the bare bones looking for drugs/firearms etc etc but I'm guessing its some guy who's looked at the paper work n thought hell I wonder what that looks like !!! I know I'll pull that for an inspection so I can see what it is

Yes and believe me i showed your car of to every car nut that i work with.
Now the questions begin, first are the rear fenders widened at the rear our the bottom?
Second is that a commander front end, the headlights look to be champion and i can't tell how long the fenders are
Third is it Studie powered and if not what.
Also would like to see a pic of her rear if you get a chance.

Thanks,

Dean

In answer to your question the rear fenders have been extended by about 3" as its now running all 84 corvette running gear ( 350ci engine 700r transmission front and rear suspension also corvette it's defiantly commander as you should be able to see from the side shot , the rear needs lowering about an inch which is a real easy job on the vette rear end )

WOW!
The More I see of it the more i like it.
I take it on that year model the commander front was longer but had the same headlights as a champion ???
I also like that all the chrome parts weren't deleted.
My car is missing the trunk chrome part. I have it but the holes have been filled.
Thanks for posting the pictures.

I think the headlights just look like Champion's bc the bezels are painted instead of chromed. Rooney can correct me if i'm wrong...

Yep there defiantly painted !!!:lol:
You can tell the difference from the champion ones to the commander by looking at the area between the bottom of the small light the champion has nothing between the round hole and the complete light bezel where the commander there is (about 1" of steel before the bottom )

Great looking car, great colour too, ( for you Americans, that's the proper spelling of colour):)
What gen vette suspension is it,and are those vents in the front of the rear fenders?

It's almost nice enough to make me think of trading in the 53, but not quite.

All the running gear is from an 84 vette , engine 350 ,700 transmission (4speed) and yeah vents in the front of the rear fenders or rear wings we English call them :) :)
It's a single leaf spring front and rear suspension , wouldn't know the full spec of it though
