View Full Version : Drove my Studebaker today

Almost 40 years ago my first Stude was in Hot Rod Magazine and one shot was taken by an old barn.
There are plans to tear down the old farm soon so I decided to get a picture there with my 2nd Stude.
It was a good excuse to get the car out.

Drove mine to a "cruise in" last night and then took wife and mom in law to breakfast in it this morning. I love it. Am going to another "cruise in" tonight for an hour or so.

I still have that old Hot Rod Annual issue with that article Alex...

ya, so do I, and I clearly remember that feature and trying to get my dad to put those mopar wheels on his car (now mine), but no way could I get him to change the Appliance wheels that he already had on the car. I never threw that issue out because I had to save my allowance up to buy it, as it was just about 3 dollars of my allowance, which back then was a ton of money for a 13yr. old. Just finished thumbing through it...what a retro-ride! Amazed at how many Studes had their mugshot in that issue, and dig the 64 (pg44) pulling it`s front wheels off the ground on the street...pretty stout for a streetmachine way back then. the Stude has certainly fared better than the barn.

I just realized after looking at the pictures, That car inspired me to built a model of a 53 with those wheels. I still have the model stored away.

Almost 40 years ago I did the same thing, a barn shot with my Stude.17512 I was leaving the country and owed Mr. Transmission a couple of hundred bucks, so I said "Keep the Car". Now I can pay my bills. 17513

IDYSD was wet and windy for me. Went to a rainy cruise night and found a lonely Ford Victoria. Then a 57 Chevy pulled up. Good company. 17514
