I heard about the Napa Main Street Reunion car show and decided to participate as Dennis Gage was going to be there filming a "My Classic Car" show. I thought I might get lucky and get my Studebaker on the show "yeah, right".....
We had an in with Dennis (read March 2012 Turning Wheels page 20/21.) Our Vice president, Johna was also going to be there and she was hoping to get Dennis to sign the display plaque she had made for her car with Dennis' picture on it.
Well, he came by the Studebakers and he did just that. He also signed my copy of the March 2012 TW that contained the story about him.
It was a great show with almost 400 cars including the usual spectacular six figure machines. They had a nice array of trophys to hand out. The two biggest ones were for two Best of Show awards.
I haven't even gotten to my WOW yet. Dennis came back with his cameraman and told me he wanted to feature my truck in an upcoming episode of My Classic Car.After the filming and after I had signed the release form, he gave me a My Classic Car licence plate which I immediately attched to the front of the truck.
Now, I like my truck a lot but I have not deceived myself into thinking it's even close to being the best vehicle at a car show. It's a truck and I use it as a truck. When you watch the segment on TV (in about 9 months) you will see that I even told Dennis that. But Dennis liked it enough to include it in his show and at that point in my life, the good Lord could have taken me home and I would have died a happy man.
Now for the Double WOW. Look back at the picture of the awards they were giving out. One of those "Best of Show" trophys came home with me. Not only did I get to bring home that monster(as if I have room in my tiny house to display it) but my truck will be featured in the artwork for next year's Napa Main Street Reunion car show.
How's that for a Double WOW!
